Youth Photography Showcase
In order to get young people involved in photography, PSC sponsors the Youth Photography Showcase each spring for students in grades 9-12. In 2012, prints as well as digital images will be accepted. There is NO entry fee.
There are five categories: Architecture, Photojournalism, Scapes, People/Animals, and Photographer's Choice.
Rules for prints and digital entries are posted HERE . Please read them carefully.
Prints will be accepted on March 3, from 10:00 AM - Noon, at St. John United Methodist Church. Enter through the Murray Hills Drive side (the glass doors). Each print must have the required label and be in a transparent sleeve (see Rules). Six prints may be entered per student - one in each category, but two are allowed in Photographer's Choice.
Digital entries should be sized correctly (see Rules - no wider than 1024 pixels for a horizontal image, and no taller than 768 pixels for a vertical image.) and placed into one folder on your computer before trying to upload them - makes them easier for you to find and know what you entered. Also please use a SRGB Color Space on your images.
The Digital Entry Form requires an abbreviation for your school (see List of School Abbreviations below). Only one image is allowed in each category - be sure to upload to right category for the picture. Press the Submit button only one time, please - it may take a couple of minutes to upload the images - be patient. You will receive verification by email showing the information in the Entry Form and thumbnails of the images you submitted. Please look it over and make sure all your images are there. If not, please notify Mark Gilliland at youthcontest@chattanoogaphoto.org
YPS Digital Entry Form (Digital entries may be entered from February 22 - March 3.)
The winning images from the Chattanooga area, are sent to the national contest sponsored by the Photographic Society of America, where cash and other prizes are awarded to the winners, and 25% of all the images submitted are exhibited at PSA's annual conference.
The entries to the 2011 Youth Photography Showcase, sponsored by PSC, more than doubled. There were 233 prints entered by 89 students. High schools represented in 2011 were: Chattanooga Christian School, Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences, Collegedale Academy, Dade County High School, East Hamilton High School, Hixson High School, Home School-FCA, Lafayette High School, McMinn County High School, Notre Dame High School, Ringgold High School, Sequoyah High School, and Silverdale Baptist Academy.
